Lufthansa Technik

It's fun when it's not mindless filing, or boring lectures. Here's an analysis.

Workshop

What's Hot

  • Getting to mingle around with our classmates and make friends.
  • Getting to think and solve problems that we encounter.
  • Operating cool machines and stuff.
  • Sometimes, getting time to officially slack, due to unavailability of required materials (sorry the next batch will not enjoy that :P)
  • Getting to go home early if we finish our day's work early.
  • Getting a good work-out (is that really hot? well, maybe it is when we get a six-pack abs.)
  • Soon, we will be making a part of aircraft skin ^_^
  • Being able to listen to music while we do continuous mindless work. It helps me keep active.

What's Not

  • Mindless filing and hack-sawing of metal blocks or sheets.
  • Frustratingly stubborn metal which just does not wanna get corrected. (that is, if I want to make a surface flat, no matter what I try, it still remains curved.)
  • Hands, fingers and even legs would be aching at the end of the day.
  • Our lecturer wanting 100% perfection in what we do. Well, I just don't show him. If I can't make it perfect in a set time, I just give up at the almost-perfect condition and keep quiet ;) *shhh*
  • Lots of time taken to complete a work.
  • The knowledge that all these we are doing now is not graded and is simply for practice before our project.

Classroom

What's Hot

  • Lots of cool videos, not just documentaries like Nat Geo Air Crash Investigations, but also funny commercials and other comedy stuff. Our lecturer has a good sense of humour.
  • Learning cool things about aircraft maintenance.
  • Once again, getting to go home early if we finish our lesson early.
  • Being able to stay connected to Windows Live Messenger on my PDA and still listen to class without being distracted (that's personal)
  • Laughing at the jokes our lecturer cracks in the midst of boring lectures.
  • Listening to awesome stories he recalls from his experiences as a technician.
  • Having breaks almost every half an hour :D

What's Not

  • Listening to boring boring boring lecture notes being recited.
  • My fingers shivering due to the strong air-con. That's why I bought my shawl. Because only my fingers shiver, so a jacket is a complete no-no.

I knew I loved you before I met you...

In the post "Secrets Exposed" I said:

You can't meet someone you love because you can't love someone before you meet him/her.

Let me explain further. There are two important differences between guys and girls.

1. Guys can (sometimes very very) easily separate sex and love, while girls find it hard to do so.
2. Guys tend to be blur about friendships, relationships and affection, while girls usually have a clear cut view. They know which guy is a friend, and which is more than that.

Both these truths I have learnt recently and I am trying to understand them and practice the girls' way (no that doesn't mean I'm becoming gay, if you thought that's the case, you probably wanna be gay yourself ;)

So what's the connection between these truths and the loving before meeting part? Well, before going into that, we should look at the connection between meeting and loving.

What does it mean to meet a person? Oh that's so simple. Just saying hi to someone you never knew before, and making small talk. Possibly getting to know them.

Then what does it mean to love a person? This is where things get a bit too complicated. Oh this is the part where people tend to talk about the four Greek loves, but I'm gonna cut the crap. You already know it.

Love, in the romance and BGR concept, means several things, ranging from knowing the other person more than anybody else would know him/her to spending lots of quality time together to both parties selflessly living lives for each other.

So if all these and many more things mean love, how can you love someone you never met before. You meet someone knew, you get to know him/her, then you request a relationship. If it happens, then the relationship blooms, love happens. If you have to love someone before you meet them, you gotta start rewinding time now.

Now, for the truths. The song's artists are two guys (Savage Garden). Truth number 2, guys tend to be blur. There maybe exceptions, but the rule still remains. Now the song is very nice and romantic. It's even a romantic thought to think you loved this special someone and knew she's out there before you met her.

But it doesn't happen for real. For starters, anyone who knew this someone is there out there, he would go find her. Why doesn't such a thing happen? Because he is only hoping that there is someone, but he doesn't know yet who that is.

If you say "I know I love you even though I haven't met you yet; whoever 'you' are." that's acceptable ;) Just remember, the guy/girl you meet tomorrow might or might not be the 'you'. Don't judge for yourself, you have to allow time to tell you.

Stiff neck, with a dose of neck pain.

Ok I'm trying to hold my neck still as I'm typing this. I'm not feeling the best of best right now. Tomorrow is a big day as I start class. I wanted to get a new T-shirt, but just going to Bugis made my neck ache worse, and gave me headache. Oh well, mission aborted. Not in mood to go anywhere now.

It's been 24 days since I last blogged (questionnaire not counted). Every time I think about blogging, I don't know what to write.

This morning I had this weird dream which seems like my own cooked up version of "28 Weeks Later", with a little dose of "Lost." I think I have been watching way too much stuff over too little time.

I came back earlier than scheduled from India, and I still don't regret it. I don't know, I can't call that house there a home. There has always been communication problems with my parents, and there will always be. Oh don't ask, I don't even want to get started.

*applying some Voltex on my neck* I hope this gets better by tomorrow morning because I need to go to school. This whole LTT training is something new that has never been before in whole of Singapore, so I'm really looking forward to it, and I feel privileged to be in the first batch to attend it.

That's it. I think I'll just have something light for dinner and go to bed. Not staying online for long.

Secrets Exposed

1. At what age do you wish to marry?
Is "right now" an age? Haha I'm kidding. Whatever age I'm settled with a good job and ready to take responsibilities of marriage, I will get married. Till then, let's play!

2. Have you given your first kiss away?
I want to be as sure as possible that my first kiss is stolen by someone who will live with me for a lifetime. (The answer is no.)

3. If you were to be stranded on a desert island, who are the 3 buddies you would take with you? Why?
Me, myself and my best friend, because they're the closest buddies I got.

Anywhere except here, where I am right now.

5. If you can have 1 dream to come true, what would it be?
I don't remember my dreams.

6. Do you believe in seeing a rainbow after the rain?
Scientifically proven.

7. What are you afraid to lose the most now?
My cool.

8. If you win $1 million, what would you do?
Stop studying or working! Ok maybe 1 million is not enough to do that now, so maybe I will start taking life less seriously ;)

9. If you meet someone that you love, would you confess to him/her?
You can't meet someone you love because you can't love someone before you meet him/her.

Erm...

11. What are the requirements that you wish from your other half?
I wanna find someone with whom I totally connect, and who totally connects with me.

A person who is proud of himself / herself and doesn't like to admit his / her mistakes.

13. What is your ambition?
Just live life as it comes.

14. If you have a fault, would you rather the people around you point out to you or would you rather they keep quiet?
I don't mind them pointing out my mistakes to me, but they must let me know and correct me in a loving and kind way, not in a harsh way or by ridiculing.

15. What do you think is the most important thing in your life?
Not money, not work.

16. Are you a shopaholic or not?

She is amazing. We connect well.

18. If you have a chance, which part of your character you would like to change?
Shyness.

19. Is there anything that you have done that makes you regret?
Lot of things. One of them is mistakenly accusing a girl of thinking I'm hitting on her. Yea I overreacted; what an idiot I am.
